Wednesday Night Climbing – 24th May
This week could be the warmest week of the year.
East
West
West was definitely best for the weather forecast last Wednesday! In view of the favourable forecast and also favourable tides, the westies headed to Three Cliffs for some pleasant climbing in the evening sunshine. A range of climbs were attempted. Steve and Mel attempted “Scavenger” whilst others opted for slightly easier routes such as “Initiation Flake” and “Joggled Wall Direct”. The incoming tide created some consternation towards the end of the evening, and there was a scramble to move bags before attempting “one last climb” before we were cut off. Most climbers moved up the beach or up the rock to escape the rising tide, Wayne and Martin climbing “Plumb Line” with rucksacks, whilst Lizy and Peggy climbed “Initiation Flake” with rucksacks and then scrambled the remaining two-thirds of Traverse of The Three Pinnacles. Descending to collect gear, Steve opted for the “wading” option, expecting knee-high water, and was shocked to discover that it was by this time up to his chest! When all climbers were off the crag and safely accounted for, we headed to the pub for a well-deserved drink.
As usual; meet at Mike Davies Leisure in Upper Killay at 5.30pm.
