The comment about birds nesting above the wall making redevelopment of the crag worthless are very disappointing. Some of the routes on this wall are amongst the best on Sandstone. As budgies wouldn't be there in summer/autumn, what would the nature of the problem be?

The comments on the deri page are about the east wall only - which doesn't look worthwhile and contains all the nests, peregrines and other birds too so may cause conflict as previously occurred(?). It is also a dump for the local farmer. However, that said if you are that keen to re-bolt nobody is stopping you. The north facing wall is indeed impressive and will be re-bolted soon. Deri Regearing

Presumably permission to regear is still valid(maybe it's lapsed over the last 5 or so years)As the bird ban finish date is nearly upon us(30th June according to the wikki)would it be possible to help me regear the crag.Also if unlocked I can wikki the text,any one got pics??--Roy thomas 13:35, 29 June 2012 (BST)

Deri Doldrums

Distinct lack of enthusiasm detected out there for assistance in regearing,can only reiterate plea of last years post and only hope that"re-bolted soon" post from 2009 will happen this decade.Nearby Bargoed was regeared and proved"popular"(on the S.E Wales scale)so am sure the same applies to Deri.--Roy thomas 13:29, 28 March 2013 (GMT)

Jolly good,goldies on the cheap or stainless,or whatever???I'll take a stroll up there to see what's left of the old gear.

SWMC/you got any stuff,the SWBF might have some but not all the replacement kit depending on this years BMC allocation. Rob popped up for a look last month. He said the bolts are mostly good, just need replacement hangers. Prob a fair few rotten old 8mms that need complete replacement tho. I have a good seletion of SWMC stainless bolts and hangers but no goldies (don't mix and match) also some personal glue (?) and staples to donate for LO's if needs be. --Alan rosier 18:34, 29 March 2013 (GMT)

Good that should speed things up if the stubs are in,may just need to buy a pack of SS nuts(I may have some spares).I think nearly all the old 8mm's are gone(except the stubborn ones)as Gary and I regeared the crag with stainless bolts and staples in 1994 when we did the newer routes.Have a few big twizzles for belays so with SWMC stuff sounds like we are good to go after the budgie ban lifts.Cheers --Roy thomas 10:04, 30 March 2013 (GMT)

Regearing permission confirmed or not??

I think that the relevant person/body(s) ?? should confirm that it's ok to regear this crag(with agreed budgy bans) It would be a shame to invest a lot of time/money/effort only for some loose cannon park warden to chop the bolts like before.--Roy thomas (talk) 15:21, 21 November 2013 (GMT)
