Googlemaps

Just installed this. Might be helpful. It's possible to add tags showing crags. It appears also to be very configurable, select zoom level, width, height, etc.

Love the google maps btw!!!!--Del 18:30, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Just a thought ... but should we now get another access area (i.e. sub-section) setup on the SWMC forums for 'other' areas like the Wye Valley? The live feed will only link South Wales guidebook related stuff then. --Del 18:30, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Where is the link to this page?--Alan rosier 21:08, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Del, what I meant is where in the wiki is there a link to this page i.e. SWMC Guidebook talk:Current events. I can see i need to improve the clarity of my technical questions. --Alan rosier 05:48, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

It's in the "Menu Column" on the left... just below 'Main Page'... --Tim Hoddy 06:29, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Del, we can add any feed we wish... --Tim Hoddy 06:31, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Weird! The latest version of Firefox (v3.5) renders this article incorrectly --62.56.51.76 21:51, 2 July 2009 (UTC) Tim Hoddy

News Box (Latest News)

I think a "News Box" would be a good idea for the front page. UKC have something similar. We could announce recent bolting/cleanups, etc... also some articles about crags/climbers. Any thoughts? --Tim Hoddy 12:48, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea, I can think of many news articles. Gary Gib does something similar on his sportclimb web front page which directs you to recent changes. --Alan rosier 14:32, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Bizarrely, this is more awkward to set up than I thought! --Tim Hoddy 17:11, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
News Test Page

I know there are a few 'plug ins' that do the job but I thought we were trying to keep it simple and clean? --Del 23:04, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

There are a few extensions that could help us. However, the ones I've tried are for older versions of Mediwiki or are completely undocumented. I think it would be a good thing. Get our users the latest developments, etc. The Special:RecentChanges is helpful for editors and not those just wanting to find the latest news. --Tim Hoddy 13:19, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

How about a simple Page then? with a 'quick link'. NEWS & Latest Developments --Alan rosier 14:46, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
